We love this abstract silver and diamond Made of Light locket designed and created by Hiddn Studio as part of our Encapsulation Exhibition.
Becky, the founder of Hiddn Studio, is one of our in-house jewellers who’s work you can find in our gallery.
Her inspiration for the silver and diamond Made of Light locket came from how memories are made, how they can be lost, rebuilt or reinvented. The theme of memory was sparked by her grandmother’s diagnosis of Alzheimer’s and the sudden loss of her father in late 2024. Memories are sacred to us all, lockets are a way to hold that memory alive.
This locket is a hexagonal form with triangular cut-outs and reliefs that symbolise missing and newly created memories. The open shapes tease glimmers of light and when opened reveal shimmering diamonds and bright hand-cut engraved lines. These symbolise core memories and the synapses that connect these memories together.
The locket is accompanied by a poem written by Becky’s friend Saima Husain, the last image is of the poem.
Traditional hand making techniques such as hand engraving along with modern 3D printing were used to create the locket.
Made of sterling silver, the locket measures 25x25mm, 9mm depth and full drop from the chain is 33mm.
It hangs from a 25″ angle filed trace chain and has a handmade tag where the hallmark is placed.
The inside of the locket has been star set with 5 diamond. 4 measuring 1.5mm diameter and the other diamond 2mm.
To see Becky’s locket and the other designers taking part in our Encapsulation Exhibition, we invite you to visit our Clifton Gallery. The exhibition is on until 19th September 2026.
