This modern silver edge container locket has been hand-forged by Katie Snow and is part of our Encapsulation Exhibition.
Her work often features angular shapes and the knife edge top of this silver edge container locket is a perfect example of that.
Traditional hand forging techniques were used to create the container. The chain is threaded through the lid of the whole container and is kept together by a hidden jump ring inside, so you will never lose the treasures within.
The locket measures 32mmx28mm and hangs from a 25″ sterling silver Spiga chain.
Katie’s ‘Edge’ collection is based on and inspired by a continued fascination in buildings, always walking around new and familiar places looking up finding the beauty in old and new alike. In particular the lines buildings make, the structures they are formed from and the juxtaposition of ancient and modern.
Modern buildings often shiny, glass filled, next to ancient more stone built intricately detailed buildings, creating texture against the smooth surfaces. This is reflected in the use of texture on some pieces vs the high shine with other pieces formed of structured forms. A love of warm tones are used to create little glints of colour glistening in clean lined designs much like the sunlight shining on tall sheets of glass.
To see Katie Snow’s locket and the other designers taking part in our Encapsulation Exhibition, we invite you to visit our Clifton Gallery. The exhibition is on until 19th September 2026.
