We love how unique this sequin and molten set sapphire necklace is. Designed by talented London based designer Tamara Gomez, one of the designers taking part in this year’s Winter Showcase.
Tamara’s jewellery is handmade using her own idiosyncratic approach to traditional goldsmiths’ techniques, her ideas flow freely as she works directly with the materials.
Calling her work “Soulful Fine Jewellery” she finds inspiration from nature, spirituality and intuition, explaining that “my jewellery calls to anyone who sees magic in the earth and the world around us”.
This necklace is part of her signature Sequin Collection; each sequin is individually hand forged and richly textured, beautifully catching the light as it moves. This necklace also features a molten set natural blue sapphire which hangs next to the silver sequin.
Tamara’s signature molten setting technique involves heating the silver and working it directly around the sapphire, which creates an organically soft setting that follows the shape of the stone. The hand forged nature of this necklace allows for subtle variations in shape and texture and adds to the character of the piece.
The pendant measures approx. 2cm drop x 12cm wide and hangs from an 18″ curb chain.
