We are delighted to bring this dazzling lapis lazuli diamond necklace to you. This striking and unusual dark blue lapis lazuli necklace has been handmade in 9 carat yellow gold. The precious metal setting in a matte finish perfectly complements the flecks of fools gold present naturally in the lapis lazuli. The designer has added another touch of luxury to this piece by combining a tiny diamond accent that floats freely along the chain.
This remarkable piece has been made by Birmingham based jewellery designer Rhiannon Lewis. Rhiannon is a craftswoman who has her studio in the heart of the Birmingham Jewellery quarter.
It is believed that the word ‘lapis lazuli’ translates to meaning ‘stone from Heaven’ and during the middle ages this material was ground down to form the pigment ultramarine, at the time more highly prized than gold.
